Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A third federal amparo lawsuit has been filed in less than a week against officers of the Playa del Carmen Public Security Secretariat, alleging illegal detention and possible torture, according to court records.

The latest case involves Marco Antonio “N,” who sought federal protection after reporting alleged unlawful deprivation of liberty. The Ninth District Court has ordered the authorities named as responsible to submit reports to determine whether protective measures are warranted under case file 713/2026.

Among the authorities required to respond is the Public Security Secretariat, headed by Carlos Montesinos, whose officers have been implicated in other similar proceedings recently filed in federal courts.

This case adds to two others disclosed in recent days. The first involves a complaint of alleged torture, with those involved summoned to appear before a judge. The second concerns a woman who reported alleged illegal detention, incommunicado confinement, and violation of her fundamental rights.

The legal actions cite possible violations of constitutional protections, including personal liberty, physical integrity, and the prohibition of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.

No court has issued a final ruling on the allegations in any of the cases, which remain under investigation by the competent judicial authorities. The amparo proceeding for Marco Antonio “N” is ongoing, and a federal court will determine the legality of the challenged acts and any measures needed to protect his rights.
