Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man accused of defrauding a client by offering a fake luxury suite rental for soccer matches was arrested after weeks of silence and disappearing with 450,000 pesos ($22,500 USD).

Brian Isai N. was captured by agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with authorities from the State of Mexico, acting on an arrest warrant for fraud against a victim whose identity has been withheld.

According to investigators, the case began on May 1, when the victim encountered an offer to rent a suite at the Banorte Stadium (formerly known as Estadio Azteca), supposedly to enjoy soccer matches. The total cost was 450,000 pesos, paid in three installments of 150,000 pesos via a bank terminal after signing a contract on May 6 at Public Notary Office No. 12 in Cancun.

However, the promised tickets were never delivered. Under the contract, tickets were to arrive one week before the event, but they never did. Instead, the suspect allegedly sent only photos and videos of the supposed suite, which did not prove the service existed. As days passed, responses became increasingly scarce.

The last communication occurred on June 8, when Brian Isai N. claimed he would send the tickets. After that message, he stopped responding and could no longer be located.

Following a complaint and investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Property Crimes, authorities linked the bank account used to receive the money to the suspect and identified him as a representative of the company involved. Through intelligence and field work, investigators located him in Zumpango, State of Mexico, from where he was transferred to Quintana Roo and handed over to a judge to determine his legal status.
