Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Maya Train will resume service between Cancún and Playa del Carmen on Aug. 15, Gov. Mara Lezama Espinosa announced.
The route, aimed at commuters traveling for work, school, and recreation, is one of the busiest corridors in Quintana Roo. Four morning departures will operate:
- Cancún to Playa del Carmen: departs 6:45 a.m., arrives 7:34 a.m.
- Cancún to Playa del Carmen: departs 10:30 a.m., arrives 11:19 a.m.
- Playa del Carmen to Cancún: departs 7:47 a.m., arrives 8:40 a.m.
- Playa del Carmen to Cancún: departs 12:00 p.m., arrives 12:53 p.m.

Lezama also announced the launch of “Tren Maya Conecta,” an intermodal shuttle service that will connect train stations with the airport, hotel zones, and other key points in both cities, also starting Aug. 15.
In Cancún, three routes will operate:
- Maya Train Cancún Station–Cancún International Airport, with stops at the station and the airport.
- Maya Train Cancún Station–Plaza Las Américas.
- Maya Train Cancún Station–Hotel Zone, with stops at the station, the Maya Museum of Cancún, and Plaza La Isla Cancún.
In Playa del Carmen, two routes will operate:
- Maya Train Playa del Carmen Station–Plaza Playacar, with stops at the station, Plaza Quinta Alegría, Plaza 28 de Julio, the Tourist Assistance and Protection Center (CAPTA), and Plaza Playacar.
- Maya Train Playa del Carmen Station–Mayan Hotel Zone, connecting directly to the hotel area.
The combined services are designed to give passengers a way to pair rail travel with trips to workplaces, shopping centers, tourist areas, the airport, and hotel zones, easing mobility for residents and visitors on one of Quintana Roo’s main urban and tourism corridors.
