Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A taxi driver allegedly assaulted a female employee at a shoe store in Playa del Carmen following a dispute over the store’s closing time, according to unofficial reports.

The incident occurred Wednesday evening when the man, accompanied by family members, arrived at the business after staff had already finished their shift and completed the day’s cash reconciliation. Employees initially refused service, citing the store’s closure.

The refusal sparked an argument between the visitors and staff. Witnesses said that after the customers insisted, employees agreed to make the sale to de-escalate the situation.

During the altercation, the man — who was wearing a taxi driver’s uniform — allegedly struck one of the female workers. The employee did not retaliate, according to witnesses. The man and his companions then left the scene.

The affected employee is expected to file a formal complaint with authorities, who will investigate the case and determine responsibility. No arrests have been reported as officials gather more information.
