Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A citizen complaint led authorities to rescue Félix, a dog left abandoned inside a property seized by the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office on Playa Azul street in the Villamar 1 subdivision.
Municipal and state agencies coordinated the operation to remove the animal, which had remained inside the home since police carried out an enforcement action there.
Rooftop escape and rescue
During the rescue, Félix took refuge on the rooftop and slipped free as workers tried to bring him down. With help from neighbors, staff from the Animal Control, Assistance and Zoonosis Center (CENCAAZ) managed to get him to safety.
The dog was taken to the center’s facilities for a medical assessment. Officials have not yet reported on his condition.
His rescue has also drawn attention to the more than 100 dogs still being held at CENCAAZ, waiting for a family and a chance to be cared for in a home.
