Cancún, Quintana Roo — Members of the Madres Buscadoras de Quintana Roo collective staged a brief partial blockade Friday in front of the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) to accuse the agency of corruption and fabricating cases.
The protest took place on Cobá Avenue and was led by the mother of Bryan Enrique, who was arrested in 2024 on drug trafficking and homicide charges.
The mother alleged a series of irregularities by both the judge and the prosecutor’s office in processing her son’s case. She specifically accused a control judge of accepting bribes to validate what she claims is a fabricated investigation file. She also stated that months ago, her son was stabbed while in Cancun prison, and she fears for his life.
She warned that if her demands are not heard, she will approach President Claudia Sheinbaum during her upcoming visit to Cancun for the inauguration of the Nichupté Bridge. She also said she would repeat the protest at Kilometer 0 of the Hotel Zone, but emphasized it would be temporary, as she does not want to cause harm to citizens.
The mother called on citizens in similar situations to join her protest to demand that the prosecutor’s office stop fabricating cases.
“We need everyone to unite, because we all want justice. The only thing we want is justice. I will continue, I will not let up. Today I will be here, tomorrow I will be in the Hotel Zone, the day after I will wait for President Claudia and I will speak about this case. I need the authorities to do their job. I need justice for my son,” she concluded.
