Suspect Arrested in Tulum Disappearance and Murder Case
Tulum, Quintana Roo — Investigative police from the State Prosecutor’s Office, working with federal forces and municipal police, arrested a man suspected of belonging to a criminal group operating in the municipality.
Officials identified the suspect as José Hugo “N,” also known as “El Chucho.” The arrest took place in the irregular settlement known as Invasión 2 de Octubre in Tulum.
During the operation, authorities seized suspected doses of crack cocaine, marijuana, a Glock firearm, and a motorcycle.
Investigators link the suspect to two crimes. The first is the disappearance of a person on May 9 at the entrance of a cenote on the Tulum–Boca Paila highway at kilometer 9. The second is the murder of a man identified as Martín, which occurred on February 10 on Ágata Avenue in Aldea Tulum.
With this arrest, four people have been detained in connection with the case. The other three suspects — Adán Israel “N,” Abimael “N,” and Moisés “N” — have already been formally charged by a judge.
Authorities said the murder was likely related to drug dealing activities.
