Cancun, Quintana Roo — Authorities in San Luis Potosi have arrested a man wanted in connection with the collapse of a residential complex entrance that killed two workers and injured five others earlier this month.

The suspect, identified only as Amir N., was taken into custody on an arrest warrant issued by a judge in Quintana Roo. The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office, working with San Luis Potosi authorities, located him after he fled the state.

The collapse occurred on June 5 at the main entrance of Residencial Aqua, located in Cancun’s Supermanzana 336. The portico gave way while construction work was underway, killing two workers and injuring five others, who were taken to various hospitals for treatment.

Prosecutors said the investigation involved field work, document analysis, and technological tracking. The legal representative of the affected company filed a formal complaint, which helped coordinate efforts between state and local agencies to locate the suspect.

Amir N. has been transferred back to Quintana Roo and is being held at the Benito Juarez Social Reintegration Center. He has been placed at the disposal of a control judge, who will determine his legal status in the coming hours.
