Red Cross Tulum Launches Fundraising, Training Initiatives to Boost Emergency Services

Tulum, Quintana Roo — The local chapter of the Mexican Red Cross in Tulum is ramping up its emergency services and community presence through fundraising campaigns, bazaars, and training programs aimed at students and families.

Deputy director Sandra Amezcua Alcalá said the initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy to meet the chapter’s operational needs and expand its emergency response capacity.

One of the main goals is to keep the Tulum base running and support its growth amid rising demand for services. The Red Cross currently provides pre-hospital care, medical consultations, and emergency support.

As part of its fundraising strategy, the chapter is holding bazaars in various neighborhoods across the municipality, which have been well received by the public and help generate resources.

On the prevention front, Amezcua Alcalá said the chapter will step up first aid and prevention training, especially in schools, in coordination with education authorities. The efforts aim to equip children and young people with basic skills, particularly ahead of the upcoming holiday season.

“It’s important that the population, especially minors, know how to act in an emergency and how to prevent risks at home,” she said.

The chapter is also preparing a student competition, an initiative already implemented in other municipalities, which it now hopes to replicate in Tulum to encourage participation and a culture of prevention.

Amezcua Alcalá acknowledged that the chapter faces financial and operational challenges but highlighted the commitment of staff and volunteers to continue providing care and strengthening community work.
