Cancún, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo will start the week with partly cloudy skies, showers and strong wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service.
A low-pressure channel over the Yucatan Peninsula, moisture from the Caribbean Sea and the approach of Tropical Wave 29 are expected to bring locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to the state on Monday.
Rainfall accumulations of 0.2 to 1 inch (5 to 25 mm) are possible, with some areas seeing brief thunderstorms and flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Winds will pick up mainly along the coast, with gusts of 30 to 50 km/h (19 to 31 mph). Officials advise caution for maritime activities and warn of sudden weather changes.
Despite the rain, hot to very hot conditions will persist, with high humidity making it feel even warmer for much of the day, especially before storms develop.
Officials recommend staying alert to changing skies and taking precautions during thunderstorms, particularly outdoors and in coastal areas.
