Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for posting an intimate photo of another woman on Facebook, marking the second conviction for digital violence in the state, authorities announced.

The sentence was handed down against Betsayda Azaret Chan Cetina, 32, a Quintana Roo native, for acts that took place in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco. The victim, identified as Areli “N,” 29, is originally from Yucatán.

According to the investigation, Chan Cetina published a photograph of the victim in her underwear on her Facebook profile, accompanied by a message that allegedly offered the victim for sexual services.

After the victim filed a complaint, authorities opened an investigation that gathered enough evidence to prove Chan Cetina’s responsibility for the crime of digital violence.

Officials noted that this case represents the second conviction issued in Quintana Roo related to this crime, which penalizes the non-consensual dissemination of intimate content.
