Tulum, Mexico — Police and military forces intervened in an attempted kidnapping case in Tulum after a woman used her appeal to lure a man to her home with the promise of selling him a cell phone.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when a call came through the 911 emergency number informing officers about an attempted kidnapping on Neptune Street between Centauro Sur and Satellite Avenue in the Lakin neighborhood, near the CROC park.
Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and the Mexican Army quickly arrived at the location and cordoned off the perimeter to begin gathering data and processing information regarding the event.
Lino “N,” the alleged victim, stated that a woman offered him a phone for sale and asked him to come to her house to see it. When he knocked on the door, the woman was accompanied by three armed men who kicked the door to try to subdue him.
He managed to break free and flee, while the would-be kidnappers took a vehicle and left the scene. Two spent 9mm shell casings were found at the site.
