Police officers detain a suspect on a highway in Quintana Roo

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Federal and state forces arrested a suspected drug distributor on Federal Highway 307, seizing dozens of doses of marijuana and crystal meth, officials said.

The arrest occurred during a routine patrol by officers from the Public Security Department, working alongside the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard.

According to official reports, officers spotted a man handling several transparent bags containing what appeared to be drugs on the side of the highway. They conducted a preventive search.

The suspect, identified as Amílcar “N,” was found carrying a fanny pack containing dozens of doses believed intended for street-level sale. Officers confiscated 25 bags of green, dry plant matter resembling marijuana and 37 wrappers with solid, transparent fragments consistent with crystal meth. They also seized a cell phone.

The arrest took place on the Puerto Morelos-Cancún stretch of Federal Highway 307, a major artery in northern Quintana Roo used by thousands of drivers daily.

The suspect and the seized narcotics were handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing, which will determine his legal status in the coming hours.
