Cancún, Quintana Roo — A gun attack Tuesday morning in the Valle Verde neighborhood left three people dead and two others injured, according to preliminary reports.
The shooting happened about 500 meters from Avenida José López Portillo. Gunmen allegedly fired on five people and fled on a motorcycle, initial reports said.
Red Cross paramedics transported the two survivors to the General Hospital of Cancún for medical treatment. Officers cordoned off the area while investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene and collected spent shell casings.
The bodies of the three victims were taken to the forensic medical service for further procedures.
Residents noted that the neighborhood has seen other violent incidents, with at least four attacks recorded between July and the first days of August. No arrests have been reported.
Security forces from all three levels of government are conducting an intense search in the area for the attackers.
