Mexican Navy, National Guard, Army, State and Municipal Police to Secure Feria del Carmen 2026

Security personnel at the Feria del Carmen fairgrounds in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A total of 335 officers from the Public Security Department will guarantee the safety of attendees at the Feria del Carmen fairgrounds and ensure smooth traffic on surrounding streets, Secretary Carlos Montesinos García announced Saturday.

“We will be broadcasting the operations and maps of closed streets on our official pages so citizens can stay informed, take alternative routes, and avoid congestion or inconvenience,” Montesinos said.

The goal, he added, is to ensure a peaceful Feria del Carmen for public servants, residents, and visitors alike. He thanked federal forces and the State Public Security Department for their participation.

Montesinos detailed that municipal officers will be joined by state police, the Mexican Navy, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army. “We are using ambulances and working in coordination with Civil Protection. Our recommendations are to remain peaceful; it is forbidden to enter the fairgrounds with firearms, knives, or alcoholic beverages. Preferably, do not bring bottles or glasses to avoid injuries,” he said.

He urged families to keep an eye on their children. If a minor goes missing at the fairgrounds, the first step is to approach a police officer. If groups plan to separate, they should agree on a specific meeting point.

The security chief added that the Geavig (Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence) is available to assist minors, along with psychological support from the Integral Family Development agency and legal personnel — all free of charge.

Despite deploying over 300 officers to a single venue, Montesinos assured that security elsewhere in Playa del Carmen “will not be relaxed,” as routine patrols in communities will continue with help from other authorities at both levels of government.
