Akumal, Quintana Roo — Violence struck the Akumal-Tulum corridor early Saturday when two men were kidnapped and later found in different locations — one dead and the other severely beaten.

The first discovery came around 8 a.m., when motorists reported a man’s body abandoned on the side of Federal Highway 307 near an entrance to Akumal. The victim showed clear signs of violence, and ministerial authorities cordoned off the area.

Later, around noon, another man was found injured near Uxuxubi. After receiving aid and being taken to the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital in Tulum, he told authorities that both had been kidnapped the previous night in Akumal.

Initial investigations indicate the two men knew each other and were allegedly linked to drug dealing activities. The State Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case to determine the motive and find those responsible for this latest violent incident that has raised alarms in Tulum.
