Yellow Festival in Holbox Boosts Tourism With Cuban Night Celebration

Attendees enjoying Cuban night at Yellow Festival in Holbox with music and food

Kantunilkin, Quintana Roo — The Yellow Festival in Holbox continued this weekend with a Cuban-themed night that brought together live music, gourmet dining, and cultural experiences for domestic and international visitors.

Christian Stenta, president of the Holbox Hotel Association, said the event is part of coordinated efforts by the tourism sector to keep the destination attractive, diversify entertainment options, and draw more travelers.

The evening took place at the popular venue El Mojito, starting at sunset. Music was provided by Antonio Milanés, a Cuban-born DJ and sound engineer with international experience, who played a mix of classic Cuban songs and contemporary rhythms.

Chef Andrés Fernández prepared a special menu inspired by traditional Caribbean and Cuban flavors, featuring dishes such as mojo pork, fried plantains, and classic desserts. A cocktail bar offered Havana Club rums and drinks like mojitos, daiquiris, and cubatas.

Stenta highlighted the positive economic impact of such events. “When Holbox does well, everyone does well,” he said, noting that many families in nearby communities depend on tourism-generated jobs.
