Cancun, Quintana Roo — Interpol has joined the search for Jesse Bruzzese, a 35-year-old Australian-Italian man from Western Australia who has been missing in Mexico since early June.

Bruzzese’s family, from Mandurah south of Perth, says they last spoke with him on June 3. His last known location was reported as the Riviera Maya / Cancún area, where he had been traveling as part of a longer solo trip overseas. Since that contact, relatives and friends have been unable to confirm where he is or whether he is safe.

Interpol has issued a yellow notice, an international alert used to help locate missing persons or identify people who are unable to identify themselves. The notice allows police agencies in member countries to share information and coordinate across borders.

Australian media reported that Bruzzese had been traveling for several months and may have visited several countries, including Cambodia, Mexico, the United States, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Indonesia. That travel history has added complexity to the search, although Mexico remains the focus because it was his last known location.

Bruzzese is described as 1.76 meters tall, or about 5 feet 9 inches, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has several distinctive tattoos, including a woman’s face and a winged figure on his inner left arm, Roman numerals, hands holding a clock face, roses on his upper left arm, and eagle wings extending across his left shoulder and chest.

His family has appealed publicly for information, asking anyone who may have seen him, spoken with him, stayed in the same accommodation, or had any contact with him since June 3 to come forward. In posts shared online, they said they are simply trying to confirm that he is safe and well.

Western Australia Police said they are aware of the reports and are supporting Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, which is providing consular assistance to the family.

As of now, there has been no confirmed public information explaining why Bruzzese disappeared. There has also been no confirmed report of an arrest, injury, or crime connected to his case. For that reason, authorities and family members are focused on locating him and gathering verified information from anyone who may have crossed paths with him in Mexico.

The case has drawn attention in Australia because of past incidents involving Australian travelers in Mexico. In 2024, Perth brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and their American friend Carter Rhoad were killed during a surfing trip in Baja California. In 2015, Mandurah friends Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman disappeared in Sinaloa and were later found dead. In 2022, Queensland woman Tahnee Shanks went missing in Cancún and has not been found.

Those cases have added to public concern, but each disappearance is different. At this stage, there is no official information linking Bruzzese’s case to any of those earlier incidents.

For residents, travelers, hotel operators, tour providers, and anyone working in the Riviera Maya, the most useful action is to share verified information only and report possible sightings through proper channels.

Anyone with information about Jesse Bruzzese’s whereabouts since June 3 is urged to contact police or the family through the official appeals being circulated.
