Grupo Xcaret Donates 100 Vests to CAPTA Youth in Playa del Carmen

Mayor Estefanía Mercado hands out Grupo Xcaret vests to CAPTA staff at Portal Maya in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Mayor Estefanía Mercado delivered 100 vests to young members of the city’s Tourist Assistance and Protection Center (CAPTA) on Thursday, with the equipment donated by Grupo Xcaret to support the center’s visitor guidance and assistance work.

During the ceremony at Portal Maya in Fundadores Park, Mercado thanked Grupo Xcaret for partnering with the city through its Tourism Department. “I want to recognize and thank Grupo Xcaret for their willingness and commitment to collaborate with the city, through the Secretary of Tourism, joining efforts to strengthen the tools available to our CAPTA staff,” she said.

Mercado was accompanied by Tourism Secretary Fabiana Briseño and Ismael Pérez, a representative of Grupo Xcaret. She highlighted the public-private effort as a way to improve tourist services and ensure visitors have a safe, satisfactory experience.

“Wearing the vest represents Playa del Carmen and all its people, so I invite you to wear it with pride and remind our tourists that we are a unique destination. You are the ones responsible for making our visitors take away the best perception of Playa del Carmen. Together we will continue building the identity of our destination,” Mercado added.

Briseño also thanked Grupo Xcaret and described CAPTA members as ambassadors for Playa del Carmen. “With the leadership of our mayor Estefanía Mercado, we will continue working so that Playa del Carmen remains a safe, competitive, and responsible tourist destination, and above all, a destination where our visitors feel welcome,” she said.
