Two Men Sentenced to Up to 41 Years for Aggravated Homicide in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office has secured convictions against two men sentenced to 41 and 37 years in prison for aggravated homicide in separate cases in Cancun.

Golf club and knife attack

In the first case, Cristofer Gómez Alcocer was sentenced to 41 years in prison for aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide. The attack took place in Supermanzana 208, where two men had arrived to serve a legal notice. As they were leaving, Gómez Alcocer struck the windshield of their Chevrolet Spark with a golf club. During a subsequent struggle, he used a sharp object to injure both men. One of them died at the scene; the other was taken to a hospital with injuries.

The court also ordered Gómez Alcocer to pay a fine of 777,990 pesos and 1,049,646.44 pesos in restitution for damages.

Fatal stabbing at shared home

In the second case, Jesús Alfonso Vega Ortiz was sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison for aggravated homicide. The crime occurred on Dec. 8, 2022, in Supermanzana 248, in the Villas del Mar neighborhood. According to the investigation, Vega Ortiz attacked his roommate with a bladed weapon, inflicting wounds that caused the victim’s death.

The judge ordered Vega Ortiz to pay a fine of 216,495 pesos and 874,822.20 pesos for material damages.
