Dump Truck Crash on Federal Highway 307 Kills One, Injures Another
Tulum, Quintana Roo — A dump truck crash on Federal Highway 307 Thursday afternoon left one worker dead and another seriously injured, authorities said.
The accident occurred on the Tulum–Playa del Carmen stretch at kilometer 247. The truck was traveling south to north when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and overturned violently, according to preliminary reports.
The vehicle struck a high-tension pole, causing extensive damage. One occupant was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The other was rushed to a hospital in Playa del Carmen in serious condition.
Private paramedics provided pre-hospital care to the survivor before transport. Firefighters from Tulum secured the area and disconnected live wires to prevent further hazards.
National Guard highway division officers cordoned off the site and managed traffic while awaiting investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office and forensic personnel to recover the body and determine the cause of the crash.
