Driver Dies After Rollover Crash on Bypass Road in Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Emergency personnel at the scene of a fatal rollover crash on the bypass road in Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — A man died early Saturday after his compact car rolled over on the bypass road leading to Chetumal, at kilometer 4+800, leaving him trapped inside the vehicle.

According to initial reports, the driver was traveling north to south on the Felipe Carrillo Puerto bypass when he lost control of the car, likely due to reckless driving. The vehicle flipped several times before landing upside down in the middle of the road.

Emergency services received a report of a person trapped in a traffic accident and dispatched municipal police, traffic officers, and firefighters to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the area already cordoned off by road assistance personnel who had placed cones to prevent further incidents.

Red Cross paramedics provided first aid but confirmed the driver had no vital signs due to severe injuries sustained in the crash.

Municipal police cordoned off the area to preserve evidence and prevent bystanders from disturbing the scene. Investigative police and forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office later arrived to process the site and begin the corresponding inquiries.

After the forensic work was completed, firefighters performed maneuvers to free the victim’s body from the wreckage. The body was then handed over to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for an autopsy.

The wrecked vehicle was removed by a tow truck from Grúas Riveras, while firefighters cleaned the asphalt to restore traffic flow in the area.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to officially confirm the victim’s identity and determine the exact cause of the fatal accident.
