Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Cancun Symphony Orchestra has announced a special concert titled “Sinfonía del Despecho,” which will bring classic heartbreak songs from the 1980s and 1990s to the symphonic stage.

The event is scheduled for May 22 at 8:00 p.m. at the Teatro de Cancun, under the artistic direction of Maestro Rubén Flores. Vocalists Ilse Zurita and Alfredo Fiori will lead the performances.

The orchestra aims to make symphonic music accessible to new audiences by arranging popular songs that defined generations, blending classical elegance with beloved Mexican pop culture hits.

Jaime Valenzuela, president of the Cancun Board for Culture and the Arts, said the goal is to establish the orchestra as a community institution connected to the city’s emotions and cultural identity.

Executive director Sandra Cruz emphasized that “Sinfonía del Despecho” offers a unique musical experience where audiences can enjoy, sing along, and relive iconic songs in a completely renewed format.

Tickets are available through tusboletos.mx, with a special 4-for-3 promotion to encourage attendance. The concert promises an unforgettable night for music lovers and nostalgia seekers.
