Cancun, Quintana Roo — A taxi driver has been ordered to stand trial on aggravated homicide charges for the death of a motorcyclist in Cancun, the state prosecutor’s office announced.
Alexander “N” is accused of driving his Nissan taxi into the opposite lane on Avenida Lombardo Toledano in the Supermanzana 247 neighborhood on Aug. 3, 2025, colliding with a motorcycle traveling south to north.
After the crash, the motorcyclist lay on the pavement still alive. Investigators say the taxi driver did not stop to help and instead drove over the victim, causing injuries that later proved fatal. He then fled the scene.
The State Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Alexander “N,” which was served on Aug. 16, 2025. He was turned over to the court.
A control judge ruled to bind him over for trial on aggravated homicide charges and ordered pretrial detention while proceedings continue.
