Cancun Rescue Brigade Appeals for Donations to Return From Venezuela

Members of the Cancun International Rescue Brigade (BRIC) in Venezuela during their search mission

Cancun, Quintana Roo — After a week of intensive search operations, the Cancun International Rescue Brigade (BRIC) is concluding its original rescue program in Venezuela on Saturday and has issued an urgent appeal for donations to fund the team’s return to Mexico.

The brigade announced on social media that, lacking any official alternative for repatriation, it will begin demobilizing Sunday. The team consists of nine rescuers from Quintana Roo, a structural engineer, a canine search unit, and approximately 600 kilograms of specialized equipment that must be transported back to Mexico.

Demobilization will proceed via commercial flights on Copa Airlines, which offered the contingent a preferential humanitarian fare. The brigade is urgently requesting donations to the account of Consejo Internacional Sumando Venezuela A.C., operated by CISVAC Fundación A.C.

According to the brigade, donations will exclusively cover the team’s return and the transport of their specialized equipment, as well as continue to strengthen humanitarian aid shipments to the Venezuelan people. BRIC thanked the public for helping spread the word and ensuring its members return safely to Quintana Roo.

The brigade previously secured support from Volaris airline to travel to Venezuela last weekend. Team members expressed confidence they will receive similar backing from the public who have followed their efforts on social media this week.
