Cancún Pride March Draws Thousands in Festive Display of Diversity

A large crowd of people holding rainbow flags and banners marches along a street in Cancún during the Pride parade.

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Around 2,000 people took to the streets of Cancún on Saturday for the city’s annual Pride march, waving rainbow flags and dancing to music in a festive display of inclusion and diversity ahead of LGBTQ+ Month.

Participants began gathering at Malecón Tajamar at 4 p.m., with families, activist groups, and local residents joining the procession. The march officially started around 5:30 p.m., moving along Bonampak Avenue before turning onto Sayil and Tulum avenues through the heart of the city.

The caravan created a carnival-like atmosphere, with music, banners, and artistic performances celebrating sexual diversity and freedom of identity. Drivers and pedestrians lined the streets to watch the colorful parade pass by.

The march ended at Parque de Las Palapas, where the “Vive con Orgullo” festival featured cultural activities, musical performances, and speeches focused on equality, respect, and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community.

The event remained peaceful and joyful throughout, solidifying its place as one of Cancún’s most important social and expressive gatherings ahead of the official Pride Month celebrations.
