Denis Ivziku, a Canadian Hells Angels leader, being arrested in Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo

Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo — Mexican authorities arrested a Canadian man described as a major transnational violence generator in a coordinated operation involving intelligence sharing with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Denis Ivziku, believed to be a leader of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, was taken into custody in the municipality of Benito Juárez. He was wanted by Canadian authorities on charges of drug trafficking and conspiracy, and had an Interpol red notice issued for his arrest.

The operation was carried out by the Mexican Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR), following information provided by the RCMP.

Who Is Denis Ivziku?

Ivziku operated in Cancun under the guise of a motorcycle club, but investigations revealed he was actually the leader of the Hells Angels, a criminal organization of Canadian origin. According to CTV News, the RCMP identified him as responsible for illicit activities between 2018 and 2022, including drug trafficking, conspiracy to traffic, and possession of property obtained by crime.

How Was He Captured?

Intelligence work pinpointed Benito Juárez as Ivziku’s main area of movement. Once confirmed, authorities launched a joint operation to execute an arrest warrant. During the arrest, he was read his rights and turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status in the coming days.

According to reports from El Universal, the RCMP considers Ivziku the leader of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club criminal organization. The group operates in Cancun posing as a motorcycle club but is linked to drug trafficking, extortion, and acts of violence. Its transnational structure allowed it to move between Canada and Mexico, using Cancun’s tourism as a cover for illicit activities.

Ivziku’s arrest represents a blow to an international criminal network and demonstrates the effectiveness of security cooperation between Mexico and Canada.
