Body Found Wrapped in Sheet in Cancun Identified

Forensic investigators at the scene where a body was found wrapped in a sheet in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Authorities have identified the man whose body was found wrapped in a sheet and abandoned next to a supermarket cart in Cancun’s Supermanzana 74 last Monday.

The victim, named Adrián Jesús, was discovered around 8 a.m. on July 6 in a grassy area beside the sidewalk on Avenida Bonampak, at the corner of Calle 54, near the Candelario Lira football field. The body was covered with a pink blanket tied with clothesline and had visible signs of violence.

Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) identified the victim using a voter ID card found at the scene. The ID matched the physical features of the deceased.

The victim’s hands were tied behind his back with a piece of cable, a cloth was stuffed in his mouth, and he had bruises on his abdomen and right cheekbone, as well as a mark on his neck consistent with strangulation. Investigators noted that the victim had plucked and shaped eyebrows and was wearing a black top and green pants. A wig was also found at the scene.

Nearby, a black bag containing clothing, cosmetics, and hygiene products was recovered, along with the voter ID card.

The body has been taken to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) as the investigation continues. Authorities believe the murder may have occurred inside a home in the area, with the body later moved to the location where it was found.
