Woman Found Dead in Playa del Carmen Rooming House After Two-Day Party
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman was found dead Tuesday morning inside a rooming house in the Ejido neighborhood after what authorities believe was a two-day party involving heavy drinking and drug use.
Police discovered the body around 7:30 a.m. at a property on Calle 30 between Avenidas 95 and 100. Neighbors reported hearing loud music and gatherings for several days, as well as gunshots during the night, which prompted police to respond to the area.
According to preliminary reports, a man had been hosting the party with several people for days. One witness said the man called a woman to join the gathering in the early morning hours.
Hours later, the man allegedly noticed the woman was unresponsive and had blood around her nose, and called emergency services.
Municipal police arrived and confirmed the report, summoning paramedics, but the victim had no vital signs.
Investigators are looking into a possible overdose or intoxication as the cause of death, pending autopsy results.
Police detained one person at the scene and turned him over to prosecutors. The State Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation.
