Playa del Carmen, Mexico – In two separate actions, state and municipal authorities detained three people in Playa del Carmen for their alleged involvement in crimes against health, specifically small-scale drug trafficking, seizing suspected narcotics and a firearm.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that the arrests were made by elements of the Investigation Police, in coordination with the Municipal Police, during surveillance and crime prevention operations.
In the first intervention, Carlos Manuel “N” was detained on the federal highway Cancún–Tulum, after agents observed him next to a motorcycle, handling several bags containing green and dry herb with characteristics similar to marijuana.
During the inspection, a short revolver-type firearm, useful cartridges, and a motorcycle without license plates were also seized.
In a second action, Jonathan “N” and María “N” were captured on Calzada Puerto Maya street, in the town of Puerto Aventuras, when they were allegedly exchanging bags with green and dry vegetable matter, with characteristics typical of marijuana.
The three detained individuals, as well as the drugs, the firearm, and other seized objects, were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the authority that will compile the corresponding investigation files and determine their legal status within the established constitutional period.
