TULUM — With the start of the holiday season, the Tulum Municipal Government will reinforce inspection and surveillance operations in hotels, restaurants, and private properties to prevent the occurrence of clandestine parties or events without the corresponding permits.
The Director of Revenue Collection, Rafael Martín del Campo, reported that the operations will be deployed from the final days of 2025 through the first weeks of 2026, a period during which a considerable increase in tourists and festive activities is expected.
"These operations are primarily focused on establishments where events involving the sale or consumption of alcohol are planned, as this is where the most irregularities occur. Permits, safety measures, and compliance with the schedules established in the municipal regulations will be reviewed," he explained.
The official recalled that in previous years, authorities intervened in various unauthorized parties, both in the hotel zone and on private properties, where overcrowding, a lack of safety measures, and the sale of alcoholic beverages without a license were detected. In several cases, the events had to be suspended and administrative sanctions were applied.
Martín del Campo urged organizers and establishment owners to process their permits in advance to avoid fines or closures. He added that the operations will be random and will be carried out in coordination with the Directorate of Civil Protection, the Secretariat of Public Security, and the Directorate of Fiscal Oversight.
"The intention is not to limit celebrations, but to guarantee that they take place safely and within the legal framework. We want the festivities to be a source of joy and not of incidents; we want Tulum to remain an orderly and reliable tourist destination," emphasized the head of Revenue Collection.
The municipal authorities reiterated that the reinforcement of surveillance seeks to prevent situations that put the safety of residents and visitors at risk during the holiday festivities, as well as to preserve Tulum's image as a safe and responsible destination during the high season at the end of the year.
