Leonardo Aguilar to Headline Free Cozumel Concert for Grito de Independencia 2026

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Leonardo Aguilar will headline a free concert in Cozumel on September 15 as the star act of the island’s Grito de Independencia celebrations, according to a program released by the municipal government.

Aguilar, a regional Mexican singer and the son of Pepe Aguilar and brother of Ángel Aguilar, will perform at Parque Quintana Roo. Word of the show spread quickly on social media, both because the artist is well known in Quintana Roo and because it brought renewed attention to his family’s past controversies.

Organizers said the festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and run into the early hours of September 16. Attendees are advised to arrive early to secure a spot near the stage.

When Leonardo Aguilar Will Take the Stage

The free concert is scheduled to begin at 11:30 p.m., shortly after Mayor José Luis Chacón delivers the Grito de Independencia between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Organizers do not expect other members of the Aguilar family to join the performance, including the singer’s brother-in-law Christian Nodal.
