Tulum Bypass Project Progress Expected in One to Two Months, Mayor Says

Officials meeting about the Tulum bypass project

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo announced that concrete progress on the city’s long-awaited bypass project could be revealed within one to two months, as authorities from all three levels of government continue working together on the initiative.

The mayor said working groups are currently meeting to coordinate efforts, since the project involves federal, state, and municipal jurisdictions. He emphasized that cooperation among authorities has been key to moving forward.

“We are talking, and later we will give you the news, but we are very advanced,” Castañón said, referring to the progress made in recent months.

The mayor added that more precise information about the start of construction and execution details will be available soon. “I think in one or two months we will have something concrete; we will tell you when it will start and how it will be,” he stated.

The bypass project is one of Tulum’s most pressing infrastructure needs, driven by the destination’s rapid growth and increasing traffic, especially during peak seasons. The road is intended to relieve congestion in the urban area and improve connectivity for both residents and visitors.

“We will be defining the final route; we trust that the progress of the negotiations will allow us to finalize a solution that contributes to the orderly development of the municipality,” the mayor said.
