Chemuyil, Quintana Roo — A tourist bus operated by Grupo Xcaret ran off Federal Highway 307 near Chemuyil on Sunday afternoon, causing panic among dozens of passengers, including children.

The bus was reportedly transporting visitors from the Xel-Há park when it left the roadway. Preliminary reports suggest a tire blowout may have caused the driver to lose control, though authorities have not confirmed the cause.

Passengers managed to escape the vehicle with help from passing motorists who stopped to assist before emergency services arrived. The driver sustained the most serious injuries, according to initial reports.

Paramedics, firefighters, and emergency personnel responded to the scene to provide medical care and coordinate rescue efforts. The exact number of injured and the full circumstances of the accident have not been officially released.

Highway 307 is a major tourist corridor connecting Playa del Carmen with Tulum and other destinations in southern Quintana Roo. Grupo Xcaret operates several theme parks in the Riviera Maya, including Xel-Há, and uses buses like this one to transport visitors.

Videos and photos of the crashed bus circulated on social media, sparking concern about tourist transport safety in the region. Similar incidents on Highway 307 have been reported in recent months, particularly during peak tourist seasons.

The State Prosecutor’s Office and civil protection authorities are investigating the accident to determine its cause and assign responsibility. Neither Grupo Xcaret nor officials have issued a detailed statement on the number of injuries or the condition of passengers.
