Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A taxi operated by the Suchaa union and a private Nissan Versa collided Sunday in downtown Chetumal, causing significant material damage but no injuries, authorities said.
The accident happened in the morning at the intersection of Francisco I. Madero and Venustiano Carranza avenues, briefly disrupting traffic in the area.
According to preliminary reports, the Versa driver had been speeding for several blocks and ran a red light at the intersection, causing the taxi to strike the vehicle.
Traffic officers arrived at the scene to investigate and determine responsibility. Both vehicles were towed to an impound lot.
