Two Drivers Hurt in Playa del Carmen Crash at Wet Zazil-Há Intersection

Two damaged compact cars at the scene of a collision in the Zazil-Há neighborhood of Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two drivers escaped with minor injuries but a considerable fright after their cars collided at a Zazil-Há intersection, where a missed stop sign, speeding and wet pavement combined to cause the crash.

The collision occurred at the intersection of 40th and 45th streets in the Zazil-Há neighborhood, where two compact vehicles struck each other, according to reports. Paramedics evaluated both drivers at the scene and determined they had suffered only minor bruises, so no hospital transfers were needed.

A blue Chevrolet Aveo, license plates PBG-84-17, sustained severe front-end damage. People at the scene said the blue car was driven by a foreign-born woman who reportedly offers ride-hailing service through a digital platform. The second vehicle, a silver car with plates UVT-725-P, jumped the curb during the impact, briefly putting pedestrians in the area at risk.

Neighbors and passersby gathered after hearing the crash, and witnesses called 911 for emergency assistance. Paramedics arrived in an ambulance shortly afterward, followed by officers from the Public Security Department (SSC), who carried out the on-site investigation and redirected traffic to prevent further accidents.

Both vehicles were towed to an impound lot, where damage assessments will be carried out and responsibility determined.

Authorities urged drivers to slow down on wet roads, respect speed limits and take precautions before making maneuvers that could endanger others.
