Cancun, Mexico — Robert Skojo, known as “El Rob,” has been arrested in Cancun by federal forces in coordination with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. According to local investigations, Skojo has a criminal career linked to Mexican cartels, including the Sinaloa Cartel and, more recently, the CJNG. He had been living in the municipality for several years.
The newspaper CAMBIO 22 reported that afternoon that federal forces carried out several raids in the exclusive Isla Dorada subdivision, where they captured Canadian citizen Robert Skojo. Official records also identify him as Denis “N” or Robert “N.”
The arrest occurred after an exchange of intelligence information with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the execution of three search warrants at properties in Cancun.
Described as a powerful criminal leader, Skojo had found refuge in Cancun through protection provided by his Mexican partners in the drug trade, according to the report. He was dedicated to exporting drug shipments that departed from Quintana Roo to various cities in Eastern Canada. He is also accused of money laundering through various businesses in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
This Hells Angels leader was a key figure in drug trafficking to Canada, supported by local cartels, in addition to laundering money through businesses in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
During the operations, federal agencies seized two rifles, a handgun, 1.3 kilograms of marijuana, two vehicles, and a cell phone. The detainee, described in his search record as 1.83 meters tall, weighing 88 kilograms, with brown hair and brown eyes, was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office under an arrest warrant for extradition purposes and a current red notice issued by Interpol.
International investigations place Skojo as one of the highest-priority targets for Canadian authorities. He served as leader and logistics operator of a transnational criminal organization that operated under the guise of a motorcycle club known as the Hells Angels.
According to authorities, the group used the club’s structure to coordinate clandestine activities such as international cocaine trafficking, firearms smuggling, extortion, and organized crime. The fugitive had an in absentia sentence issued by Canadian courts for conspiracy to traffic drugs and failure to comply with court orders after not appearing in court.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police maintains constant surveillance of these types of outlaw motorcycle gangs, which pose a threat to public safety due to their links with organized crime and the systematic use of violence.
Years before he was located in Mexico, Skojo was involved in another border operation when his girlfriend, former Playboy model and 2004 Playmate of the Year Colleen Shannon, tried to smuggle him into the United States. Swanton Sector Border Patrol agents arrested the woman in Burke, New York, while she was driving a fully paid-off Bentley sedan owned by Skojo, valued at $90,000. During the inspection, authorities seized the vehicle for confiscation and secured $18,700 in cash, a necklace valued at $125,000, and a watch worth $37,000 from Skojo. Because of this incident, the former model faced federal charges for human trafficking, while various international security agencies strengthened their monitoring of the fugitive’s operations and movements.
Operation in Cancun’s Hotel Zone
The arrest was made following the execution of three search warrants at residences in the municipality of Benito Juárez, with the participation of members of the Mexican Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the Quintana Roo Secretariat of Citizen Security.
During the operations, agents seized 1.3 kilograms of marijuana, two rifles, one handgun, two vehicles, and a cell phone, all of which were turned over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
Another Hells Angels Member Arrested in May
This arrest comes in addition to the detention of another alleged member of the same organization in May, also in Quintana Roo. As reported at the time, Denis “N” was identified as a logistics operator for the Hells Angels and was wanted by Canadian authorities for alleged involvement in crimes related to international drug and firearms trafficking.
According to the archives of CAMBIO 22, in its May 15 edition this year, a member of the Hells Angels was arrested in Cancun, Quintana Roo, in an operation coordinated by federal and international authorities. Members of the Secretariat of the Navy took part in coordination with the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and the Attorney General’s Office.
The subject, identified as Denis “N,” had an Interpol red notice issued in Budapest and a current extradition order issued by Canadian authorities for international drug and firearms trafficking.
Federal sources consulted in Mexico City detailed that the detainee is identified as the leader of the transnational criminal gang Hells Angels and that his name is Denis Ivzuki. The operation was launched following an exchange of information with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which identified the municipality of Benito Juárez as the detainee’s primary area of operation.
Denis “N” is identified as a logistics operator for the organization and a major instigator of international violence, facing charges of criminal association, drug trafficking, and transnational extortion.
Denis “N” was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Following his arrest, authorities reported that Denis “N” was read his legal rights and turned over to the Federal Public Prosecutor, who will determine his legal status. The extradition order against him was issued by Canadian authorities on charges related to international drug and firearms trafficking. The Security Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, with respect for human rights and the rule of law.
