Cancún, Quintana Roo — Tourist boat activity fell broadly across Quintana Roo’s main ports in September, with the state logging 4,798 vessel movements and 170,236 passengers for the month, according to figures from the state port authority.
The report from the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) shows declines at each of the destinations it tracks, extending a slowdown that set in after the peak summer season.
Cozumel Posts Steepest Drop
Cozumel recorded 1,139 movements and 50,141 passengers, a year-on-year contraction of 38.93% in operations and 37.45% in passenger traffic compared with September 2025.
Puerto Juárez reported 334 movements and 13,664 passengers, down 2.72% in maritime traffic and 61.74% in passengers from the same month last year.
Isla Mujeres remained the busiest destination, concentrating 3,325 movements and 106,431 passengers, but it too posted declines of 24.30% in movements and 13.55% in passengers.
Summer High Gives Way to Fall Slowdown
Monthly figures for 2026 show July, the height of the summer high season, marked the year’s peak for operations, while activity had fallen sharply by September.
Apiqroo’s statistics recorded 714 movements and 26,855 passengers in July, compared with 411 movements and 12,690 passengers in the ninth month of the year.
The September results reflect a generalized drop in the flow of tourist vessels and passengers across the region’s principal docks.
