Quintana Roo Swimmers Strike Gold at Conade National Olympics

León, Guanajuato — Quintana Roo’s swimming team made a splash on the opening day of the Conade National Olympics 2026, capturing two gold medals and one bronze at the León Aquatic Center.

Iker Galindo claimed the first gold in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle for the 13-14 age group, finishing in 17 minutes, 31.38 seconds. He outpaced competitors from Baja California (silver) and Aguascalientes (bronze).

Anabel Hernández secured the second gold in the women’s 100-meter freestyle for the 15-16 age group, clocking 59.50 seconds. She defeated swimmers from the State of Mexico and Guanajuato.

Adrián Hernández added a bronze in the men’s 100-meter freestyle for the 17-18 age group with a time of 52.19 seconds. Nuevo León took gold and Querétaro silver.

Jacobo Arzate, president of the Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ), praised the athletes for their strong performance.

With these results, Quintana Roo now holds 10 gold, seven silver, and eight bronze medals — 25 total — in the overall standings. The team will continue competing in events including the 400-meter freestyle, 200-meter breaststroke, 50-meter butterfly, and 100-meter backstroke for both men and women.
