Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The state’s civil protection agency has launched a training program for 300 members of the State Civil Protection System to strengthen operational response during the current rainy season and tropical cyclone period.
Guillermo Núñez Leal, director of the Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil (COEPROC), said personnel received courses on psychosocial care, human rights, and gender equity, along with specialized training on the Permanent Plan for Hydrometeorological Contingencies and the Incident Command System (ICS), a model used to coordinate emergency response.
The training includes representatives from subcommittees of the Civil Protection Operational Committee and municipal units. The goal is to unify protocols and bolster coordination among federal, state, and local governments in the event of hydrometeorological phenomena.
Officials said the initiative aims to improve emergency response capacity and reinforce a culture of prevention in Quintana Roo during the tropical cyclone season.
