Import Inspections Don’t Slow Commercial Expansion in Cancún
Cancún, Quintana Roo — Federal inspections to verify the legal origin of imported goods have not halted the expansion of some businesses in Cancún, which continue to invest and create jobs despite heightened oversight.
Mir Sarabia, spokesperson for ¡Que Güay!, a local retailer, said the inspection carried out in June aimed to ensure compliance with import documentation and regulations. The operation led to a temporary closure while inspectors were on site, but once it concluded, business resumed normally.
As evidence of continued growth, Sarabia highlighted the opening of a new branch at Plaza Arka Center on Avenida 135. The chain now employs over 100 people directly and maintains a presence in several locations across Cancún.
Regarding the origin of merchandise, Sarabia explained that most products come from suppliers based in Mexico, who handle the sourcing and import processes.
