Cozumel Marks Halloween With Inclusive Festival and Community Candy Swap

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Two Halloween celebrations brought costumed children, pets and families into Cozumel’s parks, with a municipal festival at Benito Juárez park and a community candy swap at Quintana Roo park.

Mayor José Luis Chacón attended both events and said the island needs public spaces where families can gather and children can take part in inclusive, festive activities.

The municipal government organized the festival “Noche de Brujas, Monstruos y Dulces Trucos,” billed as an artistic, recreational and inclusive program for children, teenagers and families. Organizers promoted it with the message: “All fears are welcome. Princesses, monsters, superheroes in wheelchairs, with canes — here everyone shines.”

The municipal program included:

  • Artistic performances by children from CENDIS early-childhood centers
  • Costume contests in the infant, toddler, preschool and pet categories
  • An inclusive costume contest at the Pabellón del Dulce o Truco
  • Activities along Quinta Avenida and a youth costume contest in an open category
  • A dance performance of “Thriller” and an “Exprésate Bailando en Halloween” dance competition

At Quintana Roo park, the Facebook sales group Mami Power en Acción held its “Intercambio de Dulces Halloween 2026,” where costumed families and children traded candy, entered costume contests and took part in other activities. Group leader Ángeles Quemé and her team organized the gathering.

Both celebrations were held as part of Cozumel’s sixth Día de Muertos festival, “Almas con Tradición, En el Latido de mi Corazón,” which honors the island’s traditions around the Day of the Dead.
