Tragic Pedestrian Fatality Near Barceló Hotel Rocks Puerto Aventuras

A tragic accident took place on Sunday night on Highway 307, near the Barceló hotel complex in Puerto Aventuras. A man was fatally struck by a vehicle, with the exact circumstances of the incident still under investigation. The driver involved in the incident has been detained by authorities as they work to determine responsibility.

The incident happened around midnight. The victim, dressed in blue shorts and a white t-shirt, was discovered lying face-down in the middle of the road, surrounded by bloodstains. Paramedics from the Civil Protection unit were promptly on the scene, but sadly, they could only confirm the man's death due to the impact.

Local police cordoned off the area, awaiting the arrival of National Guard agents. Meanwhile, the General Prosecutors of the State of Quintana Roo initiated the necessary legal procedures to shed light on the events. The victim's body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for further examination.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Juan José "N" from Yucatán, was detained due to his alleged involvement in the accident. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a potential case of homicide due to traffic events.
