Quintana Roo Takes Its Seven Dive Destinations to DEMA Show in New Orleans

Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo is promoting its dive offerings at the DEMA Show 2026 in New Orleans, marking the first time all seven of the state’s specialty dive destinations are represented at the international trade fair.

The Mexican Caribbean delegation is led by Tourism Undersecretary Pablo Casas and Miguel Cámara, director of Sustainable Tourism Management, who are meeting with organizations, certification agencies and representatives of the global dive industry during the event.

The state is presenting two publications at the fair: the Guide to the Seven Dive Destinations of the Mexican Caribbean and the Guide to the Caves and Caverns of the Mexican Caribbean. Officials said both are intended to make it easier to market dive experiences, support formal tourism operators and encourage responsible practices to protect marine ecosystems.

The destinations featured this year are:

  • Isla Mujeres
  • Cancún
  • Puerto Morelos
  • Playa del Carmen
  • Cozumel
  • Tulum
  • Grand Costa Maya

According to 2025 figures, more than 587,000 visitors took part in diving activities in the Mexican Caribbean, equivalent to 2.9 percent of all tourists who arrived in the region.

The State Tourism Department said the trip is aimed at strengthening alliances with international organizations, expanding the Mexican Caribbean’s presence in specialized markets and diversifying Quintana Roo’s tourism offering. The state is also pitching sustainable experiences that it says will benefit local communities and destinations.
