PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Quintana Roo — More than 25,000 people filled the Feria del Carmen fairgrounds Saturday night for a free concert by Rich Mafia, marking one of the largest crowds of the 2026 edition of Playa del Carmen’s annual patron saint celebration.
The performance took place on the second night of the fair at the recinto ferial on Avenida CTM, near 65th Avenue. According to local reporting based on information from the Playa del Carmen municipal government, young people, families, visitors and tourists began arriving early to secure a place for one of the most anticipated shows on this year’s program.
Rich Mafia, the Mexican urban music duo formed by Gera MX and Alemán, performed a set that included songs such as “Abran Paso,” “Como Pacman,” “Bendición,” “Cabo Girl” and “Otro Día.” The performance featured a large-scale lighting production and drew repeated sing-alongs from the crowd.
Before the headliners took the stage, the evening featured performances by Urban Box with Gigante Récord, Revolución Urbana, Katy, CHKlan, Jayc RXP and JhaysonDee, giving local and regional urban artists a place on the fair’s main program.
The Feria del Carmen is held each year in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of Playa del Carmen. The celebration combines religious traditions with concerts, cultural performances, food, amusement rides and family activities. The 2026 edition runs from July 10 through July 16 and features more than 360 participating artists, according to organizers.
This year’s fair also continues the municipality’s policy of offering free entertainment, including concerts and amusement rides. Beyond the main stage, visitors can find regional food, commercial pavilions and cultural programming throughout the week.
The remaining headline schedule includes Grupo Mojado on July 12, Cachirula and Loojan on July 14, and Mexican pop singer Aleks Syntek on July 15.
For Playa del Carmen, the fair is more than a concert series. It is the city’s principal annual celebration and remains closely tied to the history of the former fishing community that grew around devotion to the Virgen del Carmen.
The crowd for Rich Mafia showed just how broad that celebration has become. What began as a local religious observance now draws tens of thousands of residents and visitors for a week that mixes tradition with contemporary music and large-scale public entertainment.
With several major performances still ahead, the Feria del Carmen 2026 is expected to continue attracting large crowds through its closing day on July 16.
