Mototaxi and Motorcycle Collision Injures Woman in Playa del Carmen

Paramedics attend to an injured woman on the pavement after a collision between a mototaxi and a motorcycle in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman was injured and both vehicles sustained significant damage after a mototaxi and a private motorcycle collided at the intersection of Avenida 135 and Calle 6 Norte in Playa del Carmen.

According to initial reports, both vehicles were traveling north to south on Avenida 135. When they reached the intersection with Calle 6 Norte, the driver of the mototaxi — identified with economic number 44 — attempted a left turn without taking proper precautions, witnesses said.

A private motorcycle traveling behind the mototaxi was reportedly speeding, preventing its rider from braking in time to avoid the collision. The motorcycle crashed into the left rear side of the mototaxi, producing a loud impact that alarmed nearby residents and motorists.

The force of the crash threw a female passenger from the mototaxi onto the pavement, leaving her injured. Bystanders rushed to help her and called emergency services via 911.

Civil protection paramedics arrived minutes later and provided pre-hospital care. After an initial assessment, they decided to transport the woman to a hospital for further evaluation to rule out serious injuries.

The motorcycle rider was also evaluated by emergency personnel for impact-related injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Traffic in the area was partially affected while emergency crews worked to clear the vehicles and prevent further incidents.

Municipal traffic officers later arrived to investigate the accident and gather information to determine responsibility.
