Quintana Roo, Mexico — Mexico’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) is investing more than 920 million pesos ($46 million) to maintain and modernize federal highways in Quintana Roo, benefiting over 2 million residents, officials announced.

The investment is part of the 2026 National Highway Conservation Program, presented by SICT Secretary Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina. The program focuses on preserving and upgrading the country’s road infrastructure.

In Quintana Roo, routine maintenance has reached 90% completion in its first phase, covering 991.16 kilometers of toll-free federal highways on routes 180, 184, 186, 293, 295, and 307.

Periodic maintenance — including milling, asphalt resurfacing, and micro-surfacing — is 25% complete across a total target of 330.21 kilometers on highways 180, 184, 186, and 307.

Priority projects include the reconstruction of the Río Hondo International Bridge on federal highway 186, which is 36% complete. Periodic maintenance of the Chemuyil and Puerto Aventuras bridges on highway 307 is 38% complete.

Horizontal signage work is 30% complete, aimed at improving road safety and visibility for users of the federal highway network.
