Man Wanted for Aggravated Homicide Arrested in Cancun

Police officers detain a man on a street in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man wanted for aggravated homicide was arrested Wednesday in Cancun after he crossed the street erratically in front of a police patrol, nearly causing a crash, authorities said.

Officers from the Centurion Group, working alongside the Mexican Navy, the Defense Department, the National Guard, and the State Prosecutor’s Office, were conducting routine patrols on Diagonal Tulum between streets 42 and 46 in supermanzana 75 when the incident occurred.

According to the Public Security Department, the suspect suddenly stepped into the street, forcing the patrol driver to brake abruptly to avoid hitting him. When officers got out to check on him, he became aggressive.

During a routine search and identity check, the C5 command center reported that the man, identified as Derli Felipe N., had an active arrest warrant for aggravated homicide.

Officers read him his rights and took him into custody. He was turned over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status in the coming hours.
