Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Cocaine at Cancun Airport

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man arrested at Cancun International Airport with nearly a kilogram of cocaine has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) announced.

A federal judge found Antonio “N” guilty of illegally importing cocaine hydrochloride into the country after prosecutors presented evidence of his involvement. In addition to the prison term, the judge imposed a fine equivalent to 100 UMA (Measurement and Update Units).

The investigation began after National Guard officers detained the suspect and filed a standardized police report. The incident occurred at the fiscal precinct of Terminal 2, where a package containing a substance consistent with cocaine hydrochloride was found during a luggage inspection.

Authorities seized 895 grams of cocaine hydrochloride. The suspect was handed over to the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR). Based on evidence gathered during the proceedings, the federal prosecutor secured the 10-year prison sentence.
