Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting two foreign tourists with a pellet gun on a busy street in the city’s tourist district, authorities said.
The incident occurred on Calle 26, between Quinta Avenida and 1 Norte in the downtown area. Officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) responded to a 911 report and found the victims with minor pellet wounds. Paramedics treated the tourists and determined their injuries were not life-threatening.
Police located a suspect nearby and took him into custody as the alleged perpetrator. He was turned over to the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE), which is investigating the motive for the attack.
